Next Generation SELECT™ adopted a "Total Cost
Management" strategy in supply purchasing which includes consideration of clinical outcomes, improved labor efficiencies, cost avoidance of unexpected negative consequences, and patient and
caregiver safety
The program offers eight platforms, six of which are acute care clinical platforms. Platforms for surgery centers and long-term care meet their distinct needs. Platforms may be chosen on an al-a-carte basis, which includes allowances for opt-outs and waivers based on customers' existing clinical preferences.

- Surgical services
- Laboratory services
- Medical imaging
- Wound prevention
- Surgery center
- Long-term care
Each platform has multiple product categories, offering sole
source vendor awards. Participants must comply with a minimum of
85 percent to the awarded sole source suppliers to gain access
to the best pricing and value that may be offered within the
MedAssets portfolio for the member facility.
To access the program, members must participate in the MedAssets Materials Management,
Pharmacy and Laboratory Programs. Members also must utilize authorized distribution contracts in the program.
